What about its mpg? And are there any technical differences between a Felicia 1996 and a Felicia 1999?

If it does not break down too often, l might just buy one. 'cause it is cheap and parts are cheap. l do not care about fast driving, l just wanna get around without spending too much money.
Yes, you are right. VW started some influence over the Favorit in 1993 or 1994. The Felicia was designed with VW assistance, but it was still based on the Favorit.

But l want opinions from owners or mechanics.
I am on tight budget or l would have thought about the Fabia or a non-Skoda. Anybody knows the mpg figure?

Skoda was, until 1990 + a producer of cars the old soviet style, they were cheap but the price was in accordance with their value, l mean they were the cars you see stalled in the middle of nowhere waiting for a tow.
but later the German firm ''Volkswagen'' got involved with the design and supply of components, and they became really good cars.
l do not know when exactly did the change occur, and l do not know if the Felicia received any improvements from this change.

For basic transportation the Felicia is fine, l have driven in one, its an up to date (for 1996) design, no speed demon and is pretty reliable. The Fabia which replaced it is comparable in quality and design with any modern compact car.

Felicia is an thorough update of Favorit design with a help of VW. The basic engine 1.3 remained Skoda, 1.6 engine & 1.9D were VW.
The 1.3 is a little old-fashioned (does not have overhead camshaft yet!) & not an example of reliablity if u abuse it.
Actually the whole car is so - if u take care of it, preforms well, if u think u have bought a proper VW & u abuse it, things will start to go wrong.
My father has exactly the 1996 model, with 1.3 68 HP engine & for him (model 1942 :-) it is a perfect solution. He has a garage & avoids salty roads during the winter, which means also the rust is not a problem ( l have seen many other Felicias with some rust, especially on the trunk lid).
So if u can find somebody like my father that is selling the car, buy it. If not, be careful.

Fabia is based on current generation VW Polo - it was the first VW group car with this platform - so there r no objections.
Only in the beginning there was a 1.4 basic engine still based on Skoda design, until it was replaced later with 1.2 VW 3-cylinder.

Its a 1.6 Mpi
And its a brilliant car l love it!
Miles per gallon well im a boy racer and put my foot down everywhere and l still get about 100 miles to £15.
On a full tank with careful driving about 300+ miles!
